Two Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

This incident caused the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
